Impressionism   is an art movement that occurred at France during the end of the 19th century.  It changed much of the the painting and sculpture styles of the period. Impressionism art rarely respond to political events its content is very different from the realists' focus on social commentary. Impressionists were revolting against Realism art style. 
The main characters of Impressionists paintings
Lack of details: They like to capture their images without details but with bold colors.
Pastel Colors: Impressionists used Blues and Violets in their paintings instead of blacks and browns.
Natural Lighting: It makes their pictures very bright and vibrant.
Additionally: The Impressionist's paintings focused on scenes of daily leisurely activities.
