The Invention of box/field easels

During the nineteenth century the "Box Easel", typically known as the French Box Easel was invented. It's not precise who was the inventor but these highly portable easels, with telescopic legs and built- in paint box and palette, made it possible for the artists to go into the forest and up the hillsides with less effort. These are still made today since they are convenient in size and easy to store.
